These black haired kitties are sure to steal your heart, guaranteeing that you will be picking one up in no time at all.
You can find these adorable little babies right here, so get your best “aww” face ready…
American Shorthair
American Shorthair cats make the perfect additions to any family. Their sweet personalities and ability to get along with kids and other pets mean that they are one of the more amicable kitties around. Not to mention, they also have rather long lifespans and can live up to 15 years if taken care of properly! They do have rather dense coats, though, so you should make it a point to brush them weekly, at least.
Chantilly
This cat breed tends to be known as “Tiffany” as well. One of its most telling features is its enormous amount of fluff. After you get over that, however, you will come to realize that this cat is very loving and prefers its human parent’s company over being left alone.
Bengal (Melanistic)
When viewed from afar, a Melanistic Bengal may look like any other black cat. However, when you get up close, you will notice that their fur is dotted with darker spots or marbling. While it is easy to get caught up in the appearance of these gorgeous felines, it is their personality that will really have you captivated. Incredibly intelligent, active, and vocal, Bengals will keep you entertained all day long. Oh, and they love water so be prepared for them to jump in the shower with you.
American Bobtail
American Bobtails are immediately recognizable thanks to two distinct features – their wild fur and their bobbed tails. Despite their excellent hunting instincts and boundless energy, these furry felines are incredibly affectionate as well. Extremely loyal, the Bobtail will also find any reason to cuddle with you. If your Bobtail has a long coat, prepare to brush him or her about twice a week.
Bombay
If you’ve ever had dreams of owning a panther, then a Bombay cat will have to do. This cross-breed was specifically bred to resemble a panther and its lithe, sleek body proves it. Another thing that really stands out about these kitties is their brown eyes that can range from copper to gold! Mischievous and active, the Bombay cat is always looking for a good time. However, they also make excellent cuddlers.
British Shorthair
If you are looking for an easygoing cat that can be trained without issue, then the British Shorthair is right up your alley. While they aren’t the most vocal of kitties, they do form bonds with their human mommies and daddies rather quickly. You should also be aware that while they aren’t overly large cats, they can reach up to between 12 and 17 pounds during their lifetime.
Cornish Rex
One of the first things you will notice about the Cornish Rex is its prominent ears! After this, it is their short, curly coat that will draw your attention. Now, while they may look quiet and composed, they are anything but! Expect them to display abundant amounts of energy but also to be incredibly affectionate towards their human family.
Devon Rex
If you don’t ever want to have a dull moment in your home, then the Devon Rex is the breed for you. You will fall in love with their pixie-like face and large ears but it is their personality that will really have you hooked. These cats are equal parts playful and loyal. So, if they are running around, they will definitely be nuzzling against you.
Egyptian Mau
One word truly describes the Egyptian Mau: Exotic.
They are incredibly stunning and you will not be able to look away. However, what’s most interesting about these felines is that they are also very affectionate and are likely to bond with one family member, in particular. They are also incredibly agile, so don’t be surprised to find them in the oddest of places in your home.
Exotic
The name ‘Exotic’ confuses many a feline enthusiast. However, the easiest way to explain these kitties is to point out the fact that they are bred to look like Persians but are lower maintenance. These cats’ fur is a lot easier to tend to and they are great to have in apartments. This is a very quiet and peaceful cat but they can be quite affectionate as well.
American Curl
It is virtually impossible not to take one look at the adorable, curled back years of the American Curl and not smile. Interestingly enough, though, these cats aren’t born with this defining feature. Rather, their ears only curl backward several weeks later. Prepare for some truly amusing behavior from these kitties as they actually take quite a while to mature. They also like to follow their human moms and dads around the house to keep them company.
Japanese Bobtail
There is no denying that a Japanese Bobtail’s tail is quite different. What many people don’t know is that no two Bobtail tails are alike! They are as unique as the owner they belong to. If you want a constant companion, then a Bobtail will be well-suited to your home. Whatever you are doing, they will certainly want to join in.
LaPerm
These cats are aptly named, considering the magnificent way their fur curls! Considering their stunning manes, it is hard to believe that most kittens are bald for the first few weeks. LaPerm tend to have rather unique traits. Despite their active nature and playfulness, they constantly want to cuddle with their owners.
Lykoi
There is a good chance that you will not come across another cat breed like Lykoi. Their name loosely translates to ‘wolf’ and they have been named as such due to their resemblance to the mythical werewolf. However, there is nothing scary about these kitties, as they are bundles of joy, willing to play and interact with anyone they meet – other pets included.
Maine Coon
Maine Coon cats are probably some of the most popular cat breeds around. They are well-known for their intelligence and hunting skills. While their size may seem intimidating, they are one of the friendliest breeds that you will encounter. They are incredibly gentle towards everyone, including children and other animals.
Manx
The Manx can be born either tailless or with tails, so this is a complete mystery until the kitten is born. The other notable aspect of these kitties, though, is their movements. Their play is incredible to watch as you can watch them jump to incredible heights, speed up, and turn really quickly. They are also very loyal to their human families.
Norweigan Forest Cat
The Norweigan Forest breed is the very embodiment of what it means to be a feline. On the one hand, they love being with their human moms and dads. However, you can never be sure when they want to cuddle with you. Often, while they want your companionship, they also avoid being directly near you.
Persian
With enormous amounts of fur and distinctive faces, there is no mistaking the well-known Persian cat. While you may expect them to be rather lofty creatures, they actually fit in well with most households, particularly when they feel comfortable. Of course, they are ever ready for their photo op and will always drape themselves stylishly around the house.
Scottish Fold
What’s interesting about the Scottish Fold is that not all cats have folded ears. So, a kitten’s ears will usually fold in a few weeks after it is born, or it won’t. What you can be sure about, though, is that this kitty will fit in well with most families and even deals well with a lot of noise and chaos. Of course, you should make it a point to give your kitty plenty of love and attention.
Selkirk Rex
Although the Selkirk Rex’s curls may look wild and untamed, they are incredibly soft and silky to the touch, especially if you take good care of them. These kitties are more than just loving, though, they are also quite tolerant and will not be easily upset. They are also excellent cuddlers to boot!
Siberian
Did you know that Siberian cats can have blue eyes? Some are even born with mismatched eyes! It isn’t the fluffy fur and adorable face that really makes these felines stand out, though. Rather, it is their sweet, intuitive nature. If you are ever feeling down, this will be the first kitty to comfort you.
Sphynx
Many sphynxes aren’t actually completely hairless. This is exemplified by the fact that you can find black haired sphynxes. However, these cats’ coats are more like fine down than actual fur. What you may not expect from this breed, though, is that they are incredibly affectionate towards their human parents.
Turkish Angora
The Turkish Angora cats are as beautiful as they are rare. Once you have invited one into your home, you will be amazed by their personalities as well. This is because they consider themselves to be the official proprietor of the household, welcoming all your guests inside.
As you can see, there are so many black cat breeds to choose from that it can be difficult to decide which are the cutest. Fortunately, you can just admire all these kitties without having to pick just one. Do you have a friend that loves these little raven-haired furballs as much as you?
